October Elder UpdateS
During our time of meeting together with all of the officers (deacon and elders), we had a discussion regarding Family Sundays. The discussion focused on two primary areas of our worship on those Sundays. First, we kicked around ways in which we can make the service more accessible to the children in attendance. We discussed how the music, prayers, sermon and participation in the liturgy can be geared to draw the children into the worship experience. Second, we discussed ways we can equip parents to prepare their children for the Family Sunday service.
Time of Prayer
After moving out of our combined meeting, the elders spent time praying for our members, challenges facing churches in our Presbytery and the topics of discussion before us that evening.
Approved the 2020 Budget
We approved the budget for the 2020 calendar year as presented by the Finance Committee. As someone who does not live in the world of finance and usually needs more explanation than most, I would like to thank those on the committee for their work, dedication and patience as they have labored well through the process of stewarding the finances of the church. The budget will be presented to the congregation for approval at a congregation meeting on Provision Sunday, Nov 17th.
Covenant Children, Faith and the Lord’s Supper
As we continue to look for appropriate ways to engage our children during the worship service, the Session has a desire to provide a more intentional path for our children to come to the Lord’s Table. We have developed a process where the elders will engage with our kids and their parents in an effort to establish the existence of the child’s faith in Christ. Within the next few weeks, we plan to contact those families who we feel this policy will immediately effect to provide further clarity. The policy will be rolled out officially after the first of the year.
As always, if you have any questions concerning information in this report please feel free to contact any of the elders.
